We’re excited to be partnered with a leading creative studio who are exploring the boundaries between art and design. They create and curate bespoke artworks, installations, and schemes for clients using art as a vehicle for storytelling and brand expression.
The Role;
Your Creative Process:
Designers are given the freedom and space to play, there are client deliverables to meet within the Creative Process but how you get to these is up to you.
As a Junior Designer, you will be contributing to the entire lifecycle of a project, from concept through to completion, working directly into a Lead Designer and working closely with the wider Design Team, Production Team, and fabrication partners. This role requires a conceptual thinker that can confidently articulate their ideas and bring them to life in a diverse range of spaces.
The Creative Process:
Phase 1: Discover - Understanding the brief, the client, and the space. Researching themes and narratives to inspire the designs.
Phase 2: Design - Working as part of a team to create concepts derived from the chosen theme for the space. They call these idea cards, they are loose, sketchy, and conceptual. The chosen ideas are then refined further.
Phase 3: Develop - Working as part of a team to develop the chosen ideas, considering materiality and creating fully formed designs ready to be artworked, fabricated, and installed.
Phase 4: Detail (Production Team)
Phase 5: Deliver (PM Team)
A typical week for a Junior Designer might include:
Working into Lead Designers or Design Directors on multiple schemes and collaboratively ideating and designing a range of artworks
Reviewing and developing your ideas with Lead Designers and the Creative Director
Presenting your ideas to the internal team and sometimes taking part in client meetings
Researching themes, sketching conceptual idea cards, and finalising designs ready to hand over to the Production Team
Taking time out for Creative Cuisine – they give their team half a day each month to spend going to galleries or following their creative pursuits to stay inspired
Supporting the team throughout the execution of projects
Liaising effectively with all studio team members
Carrying out site-specific research for opportunities
Assisting in producing attractive and effective design documents
Contributing to the development of fresh ideas for projects
Assisting in producing outstanding fee proposals with excellent attention to detail
Your experience and competencies;
An education in the design field
A keen interest in learning
Good organisational skills that support the rest of the team
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to demonstrate critical thinking
A passion for quality in every endeavour
The ability to meet deadlines under pressure
Excellent team player attitude
Consistency in quality of work across projects and stages
Willingness to listen to feedback and use it to improve
A hunger to constantly improve the studio’s output
Basic knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
